E Gel Electrolyte Energy Gel

Crank Sports produces energy gels and electrolyte hydration drinks that are truly innovative and a class above the competition. All of our products are designed by endurance athletes and developed by a team of experts that have been creating new products for over 20 years. Crank Sports develops products with one goal in mind - improving athletic performance.

Energy gels should be consumed with water and NOT a sports drink. The result is energy and hydration, but insufficient electrolyte replacement.

But, with 4 to 5 times the electrolyte levels of traditional energy gels, e-Gel's Electrolyte Energy formulation is designed to provide complete and balanced electrolyte replacement in addition to sustained energy and hydration when taken with water as recommended. And with 150 carbohydrate calories, e-Gel packs 50% more energy than most energy gels.

Crank Sports was founded on the belief that many existing products were not developed with the athlete in mind. All too often you find fat, simple sugar, artificial sweeteners and other undesirable ingredients in products that are marketed as athletic energy sources. You won't find these ingredients in Crank Sports e-Fuel or e-Gel:

We feel that fat is an important part of the training diet, but it should not be in products that are designed to be consumed while you are working out or competing in typical endurance events. Crank Sports products are a combination of carbohydrates, electrolytes, amino acids and anti-oxidants that are designed to rapidly empty from your stomach. Fat may help certain products taste better (such as chocolate flavored energy gels), but if you want chocolate and fat, it's cheaper to buy a candy bar.

Simple white table sugar is an inexpensive, great tasting sweetener, but once again we do not feel that it has any place in products that are designed to be consumed while you are working out or competing. Sucrose can cause your blood sugar to spike, only to be followed by the dreaded bonk (blood sugar crash). If you bonk in a race you'll be lucky to finish. The primary ingredient in all Crank Sports products is maltodextrin which is a long-chain carbohydrate that has tremendous benefits for endurance athletes.

To our amazement, sucralose (also known as Splenda) and other artificial sweeteners have begun to show up in sports nutrition products. The name may sound harmless, but check out the Sucralose Toxicity Information Center  and the Potential Dangers of Sucralose by Dr. Joseph Mercola. The temptation by manufacturers to use sucralose is great, because high performance carbohydrates such as maltodextrin provide very little sweetness to the product. Thus, adding an artificial sweetener allows one to achieve a sweet product without using sucrose, high fructose corn syrup and other simple sugars. In our opinion, artificial sweeteners belong in diet soda, not sports nutrition products.
